Hogsback and Essential Amathole

The blog has been a little inactive the past few days as we are out of town staying with good friends of ours in Hogbsack, which is in the Eastern Cape. We are here with a dual purpose. Firstly we are getting some time off in the bush. Secondly, I am working on some videos for the incredible local economic development project these guys have initiated here. They have started an organic and indigenous essential oils industry in the Amathole region called Essential Amathole. I have blogged on Sprig about the project previously. It is a community-private-public partnership that aims at developing a full on industry in a part of the country that has up to 90% unemployment, yet is one of the most beautiful and fertile parts of the planet. Also, we are cooking up a storm, slow food style, on an Aga. Be patient and lots of delicious food will be posted when the internet doesn’t drop.
